Accounts Receivable Representative II

Location: 300

E. Market St. Louisville, KY 40202

Shift: First Shift (United States of America)

Shift Length: 8 hours

Key Responsibilities
  • Support UofL Physicians Central Business Office (CBO) with financial, clerical, and administrative duties.
  • Research and follow up on specialty or payor-specific denials; appeal denials as needed.
  • Perform charge corrections and authorization/referral denial appeals.
  • Research and educate staff on changes to payor programs.
  • Support special projects as required.
  • Monitor and execute work within Epic Work Queues.
  • Research and resolve claim denials or rejections based on work team assignment.
  • Enter key claim details into various payor websites and upload medical records to resolve denials.
  • Follow up with insurance companies for claims lacking response or those denied due to incorrect insurance info or authorizations.
  • Update charges and refile electronic or paper claims as needed; follow up on calls or emails from Patient Financial Specialists concerning patients requesting assistance with accounts.
  • Inform management and relevant stakeholders regarding correspondence and communication problems with service locations.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience
  • 3 years related experience (required)
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Proficient with data entry and multitasking in a Windows environment
  • Desired experience with Microsoft Office Software (preferred)
  • Ability to meet productivity and quality standards
  • Ability to communicate verbally/written with professionalism
Licensure
  • No license requirements
Certification
  • No certification requirements Job Competency
    • Strong computer and keyboarding skills
    • Experience with Microsoft Office software
    • Working Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
    • Ability to read, interpret and/or follow up on an explanation of benefits denial and understand medical terminology
    • General knowledge of healthcare payors and government agencies
    • Ability to take direction and work independently
    • Proficient with data entry and multitasking in a Windows environment
    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with professionalism
    Language Ability
    • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
    Reasoning Ability
    • Able to critically think through the process of claims.
    • Able to determine next steps for claims resolution.
    Computer Skills
    • Strong keyboarding with data entry efficiency.
    • Knowledge of Epic Billing preferred.
