Position: Payroll Specialist (Contract)

Overview

Vaco has partnered with a company looking for a payroll specialist to join their team for a contract role! We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during a high‑volume or transitional period. This contract role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing using ADP, SAP, and SAP Success Factors for a multi‑state employee population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process full‑cycle, multi‑state payroll on a weekly/bi‑weekly basis using ADP
  • Maintain and update employee payroll data in SAP and SAP Success Factors
  • Audit payroll transactions for accuracy, including wages, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and taxes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to address payroll‑related questions and issues
  • Support payroll‑related reporting, audits, and year‑end activities (W‑2s, quarter‑end filings)
  • Assist with system updates, integrations, testing, or process improvements as needed
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands‑on payroll experience in a corporate or shared services environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ADP payroll systems (Workforce Now, Vantage, or similar)
  • Experience using SAP and SAP Success Factors for HRIS and payroll data management
  • Multi‑state payroll experience required
  • Solid understanding of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with payroll reporting
  • Ability to quickly adapt in a fast‑paced, contract‑based environment
