Jefferson County Public Schools invites applications for the Sign Language Educational Interpreter I or III positions. These roles involve interpreting and transliterating English and signed concepts within educationalորեն settings.
Scope of ResponsibilitiesInterprets and/or transliterates English and signed concepts to any necessary specialized vocabulary (American Sign Language, English‑based sign language, cued speech, and/or oral transliterating) for students, staff, or visitors. Works closely as part of the educational team with teachers responsible for the student’s educational program.
Job Details- Beginning 2025‑2026 academic year.
- Salary schedule: 1A / Grade (see below).
- Working calendar: 187 days / 7 hours per day. ciudadanos].
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Temporary license issued by the Kentucky Board of innocence for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Continuing Education Requirements.
- One year of experience interpreting in an education setting or in the deaf community with supporting documentation, or graduation from an Interpreter Training Program.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Full license issued by the Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Continuing education requirements.
- One year of experience interpreting in an education setting or in the deaf community with supporting documentation, or graduation from an Interpreter Training Program.
- Meets current national certification requirements for sign language interpreting.
- Effective communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, education, or a related field.
- Two years of experience interpreting in an educational setting or a related field with supporting documentation.
- Full license issued by the Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
