Jefferson County Public Schools invites applications for the Sign Language Educational Interpreter I or III positions. These roles involve interpreting and transliterating English and signed concepts within educationalորեն settings.

Interprets and/or transliterates English and signed concepts to any necessary specialized vocabulary (American Sign Language, English‑based sign language, cued speech, and/or oral transliterating) for students, staff, or visitors. Works closely as part of the educational team with teachers responsible for the student’s educational program.

• Beginning 2025‑2026 academic year.
• Salary schedule: 1A / Grade (see below).

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Temporary license issued by the Kentucky Board of innocence for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
• Continuing Education Requirements.
• One year of experience interpreting in an education setting or in the deaf community with supporting documentation, or graduation from an Interpreter Training Program.

• Full license issued by the Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
• Continuing education requirements.
• One year of experience interpreting in an education setting or in the deaf community with supporting documentation, or graduation from an Interpreter Training Program.
• Meets current national certification requirements for sign language interpreting.
• Effective communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, education, or a related field.
• Two years of experience interpreting in an educational setting or a related field with supporting documentation.
• Full license issued by the Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
