We are a small and close‑knit team committed to helping clients make confident decisions about their future and protect what matters most. Our work is rooted in thoughtful counsel, detailed planning, and relationships that often span generations.

About

the Role

We are seeking an experienced attorney with a strong background in Medicaid planning and special needs planning. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, steady, and exceptionally clear in their communication. You will guide clients and their families through sensitive and often urgent decisions involving long‑term care, eligibility requirements, spend‑down strategies, and asset protection.

This position combines Medicaid planning with traditional estate planning work, allowing you to build long‑term client relationships while also helping families address immediate care needs. You will partner closely with our team and play a meaningful role in growing and strengthening this practice area within our firm.

What You’ll Do
  • Assess Medicaid eligibility and guide clients through spend‑down strategies
  • Develop asset protection plans including transfers, trusts, annuities, and exempt resource planning
  • Draft Medicaid planning documents including caregiver agreements and personal services contracts
  • Prepare and file Medicaid applications, renewals, and appeals
  • Communicate with state agencies and represent clients in Medicaid hearings as appropriate
  • Draft estate planning documents including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Guide clients and families through long‑term care decisions with empathy and clarity
  • Collaborate with team members and clients’ outside professionals to provide seamless support
  • Maintain steady communication with clients to ensure they feel informed, supported, and prepared throughout the process
  • Track deadlines, application timelines, and documentation requirements with precision
What We’re Looking For
  • A thoughtful listener and confident, compassionate communicator
  • A calm presence who can guide families through stressful or emotional decisions
  • A detail‑oriented and thorough practitioner with strong drafting and analytical skills
  • A team‑oriented professional who values collaboration and mutual support
  • A steady, reliable attorney who takes pride in accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication
  • A solutions‑focused mindset with a genuine desire to help clients protect their dignity and their resources
  • Self‑motivated and committed to ongoing personal and professional development
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Kentucky
  • Experience in Medicaid planning, elder law, or long‑term care planning required
  • Estate planning experience and strong drafting skills preferred
  • Familiarity with Medicaid rules, look‑back periods, and crisis planning strategies
  • 3 or more years of related legal experience
  • Base salary range of $90,000 to $140,000, commensurate with experience
  • Bonus opportunities available
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick time, and personal days
  • Generous holiday schedule including Wednesday through Friday of Thanksgiving week and Christmas through New Year’s
  • A truly family‑friendly culture with a steady 9 to 5 schedule and no weekends or evening hours
About You

You are the kind of attorney who finds purpose in helping families through major life decisions. You value clarity, kindness, and professionalism. You communicate with empathy and practice with diligence. You thrive in a supportive, relationship‑driven firm that balances excellent work with a healthy respect for personal time. You want a long‑term home where you can continue to build meaningful client relationships and deepen your expertise in Medicaid and estate planning.
