The Career Transition & Development Coordinator plays an essential role in supporting service members, veterans, and military families as they prepare for meaningful civilian employment. This position delivers career assessments, resume development, job search guidance, interview coaching, and targeted training that equips clients with the tools needed to succeed in today’s workforce.
The coordinator also manages the daily operations of the Fort Knox Career Skills Programs and builds and maintains strategic relationships with employers, workforce partners, and community stakeholders to advance the goals and outcomes of USA Cares’ Career Transition Program.
Key Responsibilities- Career Coaching & Client Support: Provide one-on-one and group coaching focused on job search strategies, resume optimization, interview preparation, and career readiness.
- AI Literacy & Workforce Technology: Integrate AI tools and modern hiring platforms into client coaching to strengthen competitiveness in the civilian employment process.
- Program Operations: Manage and oversee Fort Knox Career Skills Program activities to ensure successful participation and employment outcomes upon military transition.
- Client Engagement: Respond promptly to client inquiries and deliver high-quality customer service while maintaining dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Training & Workshops: Lead or support workshops, webinars, and job fairs designed to enhance client employability and readiness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams to develop processes, systems, and best practices that improve program outcomes.
- Program Improvement: Oversee the development and continuous enhancement of the Readiness Training Program and evaluate requirements for Skill Bridge certification.
- Employer & Partner Relations: Build and maintain relationships with employers, workforce agencies, and veteran-friendly organizations to create employment pipelines and fellowship opportunities.
- Corporate Outreach: Promote USA Cares’ mission to corporate partners and identify job placement opportunities aligned with client skill sets.
- Community Engagement: Maintain strong working relationships with DoD personnel, VA personnel, state agencies, Chambers of Commerce, and other community partners.
- Performance Tracking: Deliver training, coaching, and skills assessments to ensure high program success, measured by employment outcomes post-service.
- Communications Support: Provide occasional content and insights for organizational communications, including social media, newsletters, annual reports, and grant reporting.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Corporate Relations, VP of Government & Corporate Relations, or President/CEO.
- Knowledge of the talent acquisition industry, including career counseling and resume development.
- Experience working with service members, veterans, or in military transition environments preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Linked In and Instagram.
- Strong data-entry and documentation skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with clients and partners.
- Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
- Military experience is a plus, but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in career development, coaching, or workforce readiness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer and technology proficiency.
- Valid driver's license, active automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear during daily job functions.
- Frequent use of a computer, telephone, and hands for typing or reaching.
- Visual requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job duties.
- Frequent travel by automobile is required, with exposure to changing weather conditions.
This position is not remote and requires consistent onsite presence.
