Overview

Site Leader will report to the U.S. General Manager of this well-established international company at a start-up location near Bardstown, KY. The role has overall accountability for: the compliant and efficient operation of the company site;
Profit & Loss for all aspects of the business operation; setting and meeting (or exceeding) site budgets; data collation and assessment of trends to drive a data-led decision-making culture; ensuring site KPIs are set, monitored and corrective actions are in place to meet targets. The site is the main accountable contact for third parties. Responsible for direct and indirect reports.

Part of the on-call escalation process for the site(s) within the group business. Travel overseas to a site in Great Britain for training that could be 1–2 months. There are major company benefits with attractive medical, 15% bonus potential, 100% match on the 401k up to 5% and, on a discretionary basis, up to an additional 5%.

Key Skills
  • Operational knowledge and experience within a production or manufacturing sector, ideally within or relatable to the renewable energy sector.
  • Direct experience of defining, implementing, and controlling operations strategy, objectives and budgets.
  • Experience of full responsibility for the management of the P&L Account of a similar sized business.
  • Strongly developed SHEQ Compliance skills and an understanding of the importance of a highly developed culture of safe working within an operations environment.
  • Strong Leadership skills – able to demonstrate successful management of a team of 10+ people, recognizing excellence and managing poor performance.

Experience

Essential: At least 10 years of experience within a related operation preferred and 5 years at least with a minimum of 3 years working at leadership level leading teams of 10+ people, in a modern dynamic manufacturing business, ideally having led leaders from different functions. Previous experience of dealing with third party governing authorities e.g. SEPA, HSE, and other comparable external governance/auditing bodies.

Direct or indirect experience of the operation of an engineering maintenance function. Leadership and soft skills training and experience. Financial management training and experience. Will be a hands-on leader at this smaller site.

Preferred: Experience of anaerobic digestion or a closely related operation. Knowledge of malt distillation processes, including co-production. Leadership experience leading team leaders from different functions. Experience of setting up a new site and/or commissioning activities would be a distinct advantage. Experience of auditing, certificate/managing safety qualifications, lean or similar process-related training, 5S experience, EHS experience at a PSM site, Chemical P&, good mechanical aptitude, statistical data analysis and trending, PLC controls experience.

Knowledge of farming could be beneficial.

Qualifications

Essential: Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a respected university. Must have reliable means of transportation. Must be open to smaller community living. Need a Green Card or U.S. citizenship.
