Responsibilities

The Brook – Dupont, located in Louisville, KY, is an 88-bed hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient, extended care, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services for children and adults.

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in treatment planning as a member of an interdisciplinary team; provides assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status; administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician; assesses, directs, and intervenes in crisis situations; provides and directs milieu management; and performs additional tasks as needed. Best candidates for this position will have behavioral health experience, a strong work ethic, and highly consistent timeliness and attendance.

• Demonstrates knowledge of legal implications of nursing practice in performance of duties.
• Delegates tasks and verifies completion.
• Demonstrates full awareness of the unit milieu and provides appropriate guidance to staff.
• Demonstrates ability to establish priorities concerning the total unit milieu.
• Serves as primary channel of communication between shifts for the patient care unit and between departments during the designated schedule.
• Observes and interprets each patient’s behavior, demonstrating an understanding of psychiatric concepts, diagnoses, and developmental stage.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (associate’s degree) required. BSN preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kentucky required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience required. Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• PRN requirements: 4-12 hour shifts per month (2 shifts must be on a weekend).

Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations:
Week 1: M‑F 8 AM – 4:30 PM;
Week 2: M & Tu 9 AM – 3 PM.
