Job Skills / Requirements

We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring mechanical products and parts are at Whip Mix standards to ensure customers receive quality products with on‑time delivery.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Performs inspection on incoming received/internal machined parts and tooling to determine conformance to specifications using all types of standard mechanical and computer setups. Records inspection results in a quality database and reports discrepancies per the Quality Inspection process. Ensures product quality and follows Quality Procedures to take appropriate action when non‑conformances are identified.
  • Participates and provides support to Material Review Board activities. Partners and collaborates with other areas in the investigation of non‑conforming parts to determine root causes, corrective actions, and limited dispositions following standard quality procedures.
  • Performs QC testing of chemical products and materials.
  • Performs complex first part/first article inspections using a variety of precision mechanical setups and fixtures to determine conformance to specifications and suitability for use.
  • Performs calibration of equipment, instruments, etc. Acts as a gatekeeper of calibration database to monitor, coordinate, update records to ensure timely completion of the calibration activities.
  • Acts as a gatekeeper of Preventive Maintenance (PM) database to monitor, coordinate, and update records to ensure timely completion of PM activities.
  • Works within the Quality Module of the ERP system to satisfy daily operations.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in a regulatory manufacturing environment preferred, ISO 13485 standards is a plus.
  • ASQ (American Society for Quality, Certified Quality Technician or Calibration technician preferred).
  • Working knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) and statistics.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office products and ERP system required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Statistical Process Control and Quality tools (DMAIC, Six Sigma, PDCA, Cpk., etc.).
  • Understands how to apply criteria in order to generate reports.
  • Able to determine part acceptability by performing mechanical and visual inspections with sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross‑functionally with others, providing training when needed.
  • Able to read and understand material handling reports, manufacturing orders, and complex work instructions.
  • Knowledge of dimensional measurement equipment commonly utilized in a machine shop and/or quality inspection and/or calibration department in a manufacturing environment, including fixed and variable gages, indicators, surface plate and associated measuring and fixture equipment, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Knowledge of electronic measurements for calibrating electronic gages.
  • Seeks out opportunities and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to learn and operate various inspection equipment including hand‑held devices.
  • Working knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T statistics.
  • Statistical Process Control and Quality tools (DMAIC, Six Sigma, PDCA, etc.).
