Large Program Division (CNS) – Travel Crew OpportunityOur Large Program division (CNS) is looking for travel crews to complete work around the Louisville, Ky market. Our travel crews will provide support for our existing projects in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
The travel crew will work as a team to perform underground fiber construction (Plow, Drill, Bore, Vac Truck, Tie & Vault). On top of our existing great benefit package, our travel crew will also be eligible for:
- Competitive Base Pay + Premium Pay (based on job level)
- Daily Per Diem
- Referral bonus
The Directional Bore Operator will be responsible for operating the directional drill. They will set up and complete the drilling of variable‑sized underground holes and pull back the required conduit. They will work with an Outside Plant Project Manager and Locators to complete job requirements from start to finish on outside plant projects including digging boring pit, directional boring, pulling back of conduit, splicing of conduit sections, pulling giber through conduit, setting hand holes, back filling, and seeding, core drilling, and potholing.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)- Set up equipment including the drill, water tanks, and grounding of the machine.
- Operate drilling equipment and various other construction equipment.
- Confirm with locator or lead the bore path to drill.
- Drill the predetermined path to the exit point.
- Continue communication with the locator to confirm the location of the drill head.
- Assist in potholing and remediation.
- Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie‑ins.
- Assist with the installation of proper pulling gear and hook‑up product.
- Conduct post‑job quality checks.
- All responsibilities will be performed in standard and high‑risk areas.
- If appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the Jobsite to complete daily work assignments.
- Maintain, clean, and inspect company vehicles and equipment assigned for use to ensure they are performing at optimum safety.
- Perform required pre‑and post‑trip inspections of vehicles and equipment and complete required paperwork.
- Comply with safety procedures while driving and at the job site.
- Perform other general duties, as directed.
Skills & Qualifications General
- Ability to comply with the “Operator’s Manual” for equipment and vehicles used.
- Ability to understand and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class
A) with a satisfactory driving record. - Self‑motivated, safe, quality, and production‑minded.
- Ability to work and communicate as part of a team, and other craft and labor workers.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to lift at minimum 50 lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions – heat, cold, snow, ice, rain, etc.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, moving your whole body, reaching, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Ability to work long hours, if needed.
- Ability to travel for remote business requirements within Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Individuals will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug test and background screening.
- At least 1 year of directional drilling experience.
- Ability to drill predetermined path to exit point.
