Maintenance Electrician I/II/III – Treatment II (subject to shift)
Louisville MSD invites applications for this role, which will be filled as a Maintenance Electrician I, II, or III based on candidate qualifications.
Salary
Maintenance Electrician I $39.27/hr
Maintenance Electrician II $41.59/hr
Maintenance Electrician III $44.09/hr
Under supervision, safely provides maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of electrical controls, electronic systems, equipment, and components. Responsibilities include maintaining pumps, motors, distribution equipment, generator systems, automated controls containing relay logic and PLCs, calibrating instrumentation, performing electrical construction and maintenance, and possibly directing crew work.
Maintenance Electrician I- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installation of electrical equipment and components.
- Refer to wiring diagrams, drawings, blueprints, schematics, O&M manuals, and SOPs for guidance.
- Work with qualified staff to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high‑ and medium‑voltage switch gear and components.
- Keep accurate records, bills of material, and regulatory documents.
- Perform mechanical work to expedite equipment service restoration.
- Drive MSD‑assigned vehicles to job sites.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Same responsibilities as I, with moderate supervision.
- Additional focus on instrument, hydraulic, pneumatic systems; diagnose, calibrate, and repair.
- Use local, state, and national electric codes.
- Same responsibilities as I, with minimum supervision.
- Advanced maintenance of complex electrical controls and PLCs.
- Interpret and create wiring diagrams, drawings, and schematics; update documents as needed.
- Share advanced system knowledge with coworkers and management.
- Correct and safe usage of electrical and electronic test equipment; relay logic and motor control systems; PLC ladder logic.
- Reading, interpreting blueprints, schematic diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks and work outdoors at night, in adverse conditions, and heavy workloads.
- Ability to work various shifts and mandatory overtime.
- For III: safe use of high‑voltage hot stick and related equipment; troubleshoot high‑voltage switch gear.
- Maintenance Electrician I: High School Diploma or GED; 3+ years experience; valid driver’s license; safe work and driving habits.
- Maintenance Electrician II: High School Diploma or GED; 5+ years experience;
Electrician (EE) or Master Electrician (ME) license through Kentucky or reciprocal state, or completed state‑certified electrical apprenticeship; valid driver’s license; safe work and driving habits. - Maintenance Electrician III: High School Diploma or GED; 5+ years experience;
Electrician (EE) or Master Electrician (ME) license;
Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) certification; valid driver’s license; safe work and driving habits.
This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug testing.
