Software Engineer, Front End Developer
Humana’s Digital Health Platform (DHP) is the engineering platform behind many of Humana’s consumer digital experiences. DHP Product Engineering builds the shared pieces other Humana teams build on, including a micro-frontend catalog, accessibility tooling, and API foundations, and we build them with AI coding agents at the center of how we work. We are hiring a Senior Product Engineer, Accessibility, to own the products that help Humana’s teams build accessible web and mobile experiences from the start.
We run accessibility as products with customers. Product teams across Humana are the customers, and our members and patients benefit. You set the direction for products such as automated accessibility testing in pipelines, an accessibility linter, an accessibility health dashboard, and AI agent skills, and you build them alongside our product engineers. You also run parts of Humana’s Digital Accessibility Program, and we expect you to automate more of that work over time.
Howwe work:
Our practice is skills-driven. A skill is a set of reusable instructions that an AI agent follows for a recurring task. The accessibility program already runs on skills. You will use them, write new ones, and ship accessibility skills that other teams use in their own work.
We welcome candidates with disabilities, including people who use assistive technology every day. That experience is directly relevant to this role. We support IAAP certification if you do not hold one yet.
Role ResponsibilitiesSet product direction: Set the direction for our accessibility products, propose what goes on their roadmap, and write the stories
Build accessibility products: Build and maintain automated accessibility tests, scan rules, CI integrations, and AI agent skills, and run spikes and prototypes before investing in a full implementation
Own the toolchain: Roll out, configure, and integrate our commercial accessibility testing tools, so that product teams can adopt them with little effort
Measure adoption and outcomes: Track measures such as the share of product teams with accessibility checks in their pipelines and the time to close critical findings, and bring the results into roadmap decisions
Enable product teams: Bring accessibility checks into teams’ editors, pipelines, and agent workflows, own our developer checklists, give specific remediation guidance, and run training and office hours
Test with assistive technology: Test web and mobile experiences with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, and voice control
Run the program: Keep the Digital Accessibility Policy, Standards, and Conformance Statement current, coordinate audits with our audit vendor, provide technical evidence to Humana’s legal partners for compliance reviews and complaint responses, and handle vendor administration
Review software Humana buys: Help Humana’s Procurement organization assess consumer-facing software, including software evaluations, contract negotiations, and review of each vendor’s Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)
Influencing engineers and teams that do not report to you, through clear guidance, examples, and follow-through
Writing clearly for engineers, legal partners, and senior leaders, and adjusting the level of detail for each
Keeping many requests moving at once, and saying early and plainly when one will be late
Bringing structure to ambiguous problems and to processes that are still taking shape
Required Qualifications
