Senior Purchasing & Provisioning Specialist

Responsibilities- Purchasing & Procurement: Source, procure, and negotiate raw materials, fabricated components, hardware, and military‑grade items for heavy manufacturing and modification programs; prepare RFQs, analyze bids, issue purchase orders, and ensure alignment with project schedules and contractual obligations.
- Provisioning & Logistics Support: Maintain provisioning data for government and defense programs, review engineering drawings and BOMs, and collaborate with Program Management and Engineering to produce accurate provisioning documentation.
- Supplier & Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, evaluate vendor performance, identify alternate sources, and resolve shortages or quality issues.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination: Work closely with Operations, Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to align purchasing activities with production priorities and provide material expediting when needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce lead times, improve cost competitiveness, and support inventory control efforts.
- Preferred Attributes:
- Familiarity with SLEP programs (RTCH, EBFL, cranes, tactical vehicles, etc.).
- Understanding of military standards, packaging requirements, and provisioning data (PPLs, IPBs, SMR codes).
- Experience expediting suppliers in rapidly changing production environments.
- Strong problem‑solving ability with a "whatever it takes" mindset.
- Education & Experience:
- 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably in defense manufacturing or heavy fabrication.
- Strong understanding of BOM structures, engineering drawings, weldments, machining, and fabricated assemblies.
- Experience supporting military or government programs (ILS, provisioning, FAR/DFARS knowledge a plus).
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple vendors.
- High energy, multitasking capability, and ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel required).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.
