Dirt Works Drainage | Full-Time

Are You a Problem Solver Who Knows Your Numbers?

Dirt Works Drainage is looking for an experienced Construction Estimator / Project Manager who can do more than put numbers on a bid. We need someone who can see the big picture, identify opportunities, develop accurate estimates, and take ownership of projects from the bidding stage through completion.

We're looking for someone who thinks ahead, challenges the status quo, and isn't afraid to make decisions. But here's the catch: you also need to be really good with numbers.

The right person will have the confidence to develop competitive bids, the financial discipline to protect project margins, and the leadership skills to successfully manage the projects they estimate.

If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, finding better ways to get things done, and seeing your work turn into successful construction projects, we'd like to talk.

What You'll Be Doing

Review construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and project requirements.

Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, trucking, and subcontractors.

Evaluate production rates, project risks, costs, and anticipated profit margins.

Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct job site visits.

Obtain and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing.

Prepare competitive proposals and submit bids within established deadlines.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative construction methods.

Work with leadership to evaluate and prioritize bidding opportunities.

Project Management

Take ownership of awarded projects from kickoff through completion.

Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and work plans.

Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and customers.

Monitor project progress, costs, productivity, and profitability.

Identify potential issues and implement solutions before they become costly problems.

Prepare and manage change orders.

Maintain accurate project documentation and financial reporting.

Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of construction estimating and/or project management experience preferred.

Experience in civil construction, excavation, earthwork, drainage, utilities, or site development.

Strong mathematical abilities and a solid understanding of construction costs, production rates, and profit margins.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.

Experience preparing detailed construction estimates and managing project budgets.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction estimating or project management software.

Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.

Field construction experience is a strong plus.

The Type of Person Who Will Thrive Here

We're looking for someone who:

Takes initiative. You don't wait around for someone to tell you what needs to be done.

Thinks outside the box. You enjoy finding creative solutions and better ways to complete projects.

Understands the numbers. You can confidently calculate costs, evaluate margins, and identify financial risks.

Takes ownership. When you estimate a project, you're prepared to manage it and be accountable for the outcome.

Makes decisions. You can evaluate information, weigh risks, and move forward confidently.

Pays attention to details. You understand that even a small estimating mistake can have a big impact on profitability.

Communicates effectively. You can work with customers, management, and field crews to keep projects moving.

Gets results. You take pride in delivering successful, profitable projects.

Why Dirt Works Drainage?

At Dirt Works Drainage, we believe in giving capable people the opportunity to take ownership, contribute ideas, and make a meaningful impact.

We're looking for someone who wants more than a job. We want someone who is interested in growing with our company, contributing to our success, and helping us continue to improve how we estimate and execute projects.

Our company operates on five simple rules:

We don't lie. We don't cheat. We don't steal. We do things for the right reasons. And we treat others the way you…
