Job Description

The Digital Navigation Program at Loveland Public Library aligns with our vision and mission of creating a more digital equitable and inclusive community in Larimer County. Ameri Corps members serving as Digital Navigators assist community members with accessing affordable internet service and devices and providing digital skills training.

During the 2025‑26 service term, members will be placed with one of 7 host sites in Larimer County:
Loveland, Estes Valley, Red Feather Lakes, Berthoud, Wellington, and Front Range Community College – Larimer Campus (Fort Collins).

Service Hours and Term

Service

Hours:

Monday – Saturday, hours varying between 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.

Term of Service:
Start Date: January 12, 2026;
End Date: December 13, 2026;
Average hours per week: 14.5 – 15 hours;
Total expected hours: 675 hours.

Program Overview

The Digital Navigation program teaches people living in Larimer County and surrounding areas digital skills—including computer, smartphone, tablet, and software basics, and how to use the internet. Members are placed in public libraries and other local organizations that serve older adults and veterans and attend local events to promote the program.

Service Description

Members support the growth and development of digital skills in the community to help bridge the digital divide. They meet community members one on one for appointments or drop-ins, teach digital literacy skills, facilitate practice, or teach online learning skills. Sessions may be conducted in person or virtually as arranged.

During service, members assess community members’ digital skills through observation, assessments, skills inventories, or conversations about learning goals. They accurately complete data collection paperwork or log interactions daily.

Members also answer questions about the program by phone, email, or outreach events, and perform related tasks or attend assigned outreach events as directed. Throughout the year, they support learners’ digital skill goals and advance their own technology knowledge through professional development opportunities.

Essential Functions
  • Support learners by appointment or drop‑in to teach digital skills, facilitate practice, or teach online learning skills.
  • Maintain appointment notes, including duration, learner needs, services provided, and outcomes.
  • Assess learner ability and needs through observation, assessment, or discussion of skills goals.
  • Maintain professional verbal and written communication with members, supervisors, program staff, or learners, including scheduling and rescheduling appointments.
  • Refer learners to libraries or external organizations for additional support such as job search, resume development, library databases, or benefits websites.
  • Attend a monthly training day organized by program staff for member development.
Secondary Functions
  • Attend assigned outreach events to inform the community about program services.
  • Perform additional functions based on site placement, such as Creative/Makerspace Technology, Outreach, Marketing Support, Instruction Creation, Scheduling/Phone Support, Bilingual – Spanish, or Pulse Member.
Training Provided
  • One to two weeks of member orientation covering Digital Navigation, Ameri Corps introduction, and library introduction.
  • Monthly training throughout the term covering topics such as resume building, time management, online safety, and teaching adults.
  • Optional creative technology training such as 3D printing, 2D/3D digitizing, Adobe Suite basics, and CNC/Laser engraving troubleshooting and maintenance.
What We’re Looking For

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows PCs, Android or iOS mobile devices, internet browsers, and email.
