EligibilityIntra:

Inspects sites, buildings, and structures for compliance with zoning, land use and subdivision codes, approved plans, specifications, and policies; investigates complaints and alleged violations for non-conformance to proper codes; and performs other related duties as required.
Qualification Requirements- Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the filing date of their application, unless otherwise specified.
- Required education and experience may not be gained concurrently.
- Overall paid or unpaid experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Experience calculation based on full-time 40‑hour weeks; part‑time experience must be pro‑rated.
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of inspectional or investigative work experience, one of which shall have been in building, zoning, or related code enforcement inspectional work; and/or three years of drafting experience dealing with zoning and subdivision codes and some experience in inspectional or investigative work.
License RequirementPossession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license (Type
3).
- Laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to zoning, subdivisions, and signs.
- Inspectional and investigative methods and techniques.
- Legal procedures involving enforcement of zoning and subdivision ordinances.
- Inspect sites, buildings and structures and signs, and render decisions in conformity with ordinances.
- Interpret and explain laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to County planning activities.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications, zoning ordinances, subdivision rules and regulations.
- Gather, analyze, and evaluate facts; give testimony in hearings and in court.
- Prepare clear and concise reports; deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
Persons seeking appointment must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.

The examination may consist of a written test, training and experience evaluation or another accepted examining technique.
