** The Target Pay Range for this position is $ 114,000 to $ 143,000 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
**** PURPOSE OF JOB:
** The Immunoassay R&D Manager is a technical and leadership role responsible for guiding a team of scientists in designing, developing, and optimizing immunoassay-based diagnostic products within Antech’s veterinary diagnostics portfolio. This position requires deep expertise in immunoassay development and strong leadership skills to drive projects from concept through commercialization.

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* *** Technical
* *** Lead the development of immunoassays, including ELISA, bead-based technologies, and multiplexed platforms, and lateral flow tests, ensuring smooth technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
* Design and characterize novel biomolecules (e.g., antigens) and apply conjugation techniques.
* Develop laboratory-scale models for purification processes of
E. coli–derived products, including antigen design, molecular cloning, expression optimization, and chromatography.
* Interpret data, communicate results to project teams, and maintain accurate documentation.
* Optimize assays and protocols, implement cost-reduction strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance), and lead drafting of protocols, reports, risk analyses, and batch records.
* Participate in troubleshooting of on-market products including serving as a subject matter expert on root cause investigations and CAPA’s.
* Stay current with scientific advancements through literature reviews, conferences, and training.
* Plan resources effectively to meet milestones and timelines.
* Contribute to the selection of the methodology and techniques to be used.

* *** Manage and mentor scientific teams, fostering collaboration and resolving conflicts.
* Oversee resource planning, delegation, and performance management.
** EDUCATION/
EXPERIENCE:
*** Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field with 10+ years of diagnostic assay development experience (academic and industry).
* Broad knowledge of protein design, immune recognition, receptor binding, and peptide processing.
** REQUIRED
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
*
* * Expertise in antibody and recombinant antigen assay development, optimization, and QC.
* Proficiency in molecular cloning, expression systems (E. coli and mammalian), and bioinformatics tools for protein analysis.
* Skilled in statistical data analysis and familiar with CLSI and Westgard guidelines.
* Ability to translate research protocols into scalable, cost-effective diagnostic tests.
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in matrix teams.
** DESIRED
SKILLS:
*** Experience with QC definitions and generation of standards and positive/negative controls.
* Proficiency with computational tools and bioinformatics approaches for protein structure analysis and epitope prediction.
* Ability to apply advanced algorithms and software platforms to support assay design and optimization.
* Experience in constructing peptide libraries and testing using a variety of test systems such as ELISA.
