** This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD Skill Bridge Internship.
** The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD Skill Bridge program.

Position Overview

The mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fleet road equipment, including tractors, trailers, thermo-king units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations, documenting repairs, and performing road rescue as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefers, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
  • Complete repair documentation, including repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
  • Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed.
  • Maintain accurate logs and inventory records.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Support other maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and obtain certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel or reefer mechanic, or 2 years with Diesel Mechanic or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Own personal hand tools.
  • CDL A and DOT certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient with computers and software.
  • Flexible schedule including nights and weekends; ability to work overtime.
