Swim Aide-Chilson

Overview

Our Swim Aide is responsible for helping to organize and manage learn to swim classes under the direction of the Aquatics Specialist. The salary range for this position is $14.81 - $18.36 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Must be at least 14 years of age. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screen.

• Enhances Loveland Park and Recreation image and ensures a quality visit for guests by assisting in the implementation of lesson plans, teaching and supervision of guests enrolled in the swim program.
• Complete required in-house swim aide training, attend swim instructor trainings to stay current on teaching methods as appropriate.
• Handle emergencies according to standard procedure.
• Inspect program environment and equipment to ensure safety.
• Complete administrative tasks such as attendance sheets and class evaluations.
• Disseminate and promote Parks and Recreation program information; educate users of potential opportunities and services available.
• Direct public to proper locations; provide general facility use instructions; enforce facility policy and procedure by informing guests of existing policies.

• Maintains order in classes to ensure a safe environment and promote a learning atmosphere.
• May be required to cross train in other areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:

• Must be at least 14 years of age.
• Customer service experience or training, preferred.
• Experience in high level swimming classes and demonstrated ability in a variety of swim strokes, preferred.

Certifications:

• Current CPR and First Aid required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire date.
• Possession of Swim Instructor Aide class certification highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively and diplomatically with guests, co-workers and facility management team.
• Must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making in handling difficult situations involving facility guests.
• Must follow written and verbal direction.
• Must make sound judgments, exercise conflict resolution, and exhibit patience when dealing with stressful situations.
• Must demonstrate exceptional swimming skills and be able to impart those skills to class members.

• Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
• Occasional moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools

• Frequent exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
• Occasional exposure to hazards that are predictable or well projected against.
