Provide quality coaching for youth CARA Track & Field Team. Hours are less than 20 per week and require mornings and weekends. Scheduled days/hours may vary.

Salary for Head Coach: $15.00 - $18.00
, depending on qualifications and experience.

Salary for Assistant Coach: $14.42 - $16.00
, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position will remain open until filled.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Instruct participants and develop and implement lesson/training plans.
  • Inspect environment and equipment to ensure safety.
  • Complete administrative tasks including skill assessments, attendance, class evaluations, and more.
  • Supervise practice sessions and help with administrative duties.
  • Ensure that only registered team members are present during team practices.
  • Recruit necessary volunteers to assist with activities and meets.
  • Attend CARA meetings as scheduled.
  • Attend meets held at facilities other than those of the City of Loveland.
HEAD TRACK COACH FUNCTIONS

All duties listed above plus the following:

  • Plan and execute practices.
  • Supervise practice sessions.
  • Serve as main point of contact for communication.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Superior knowledge of proper Track and Field training techniques.
  • Diplomatic interaction with youth, parents and staff.
  • Good judgment, patience, and ability to schedule workouts and meets.
  • Quick and correct reaction in emergency situations.
  • Sound judgment, conflict resolution, and patience during stressful or disciplinary situations.
  • Ensure safety of all participants through proper equipment and facility usage.
  • Attire appropriate clothing and attend scheduled staff meetings.
SPECIALTY JOB FUNCTIONS

Head Track Coach - Assist with supervision of other coaches and volunteer coaches. Responsible for direct supervision of assistant coaches and staff, including disciplinary actions, and other personnel management duties to maintain a successful staff.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Patience, good judgment, and diplomacy when handling difficult situations.

Education and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of rules and regulations of track required.
  • Course work in recreation, education or related field preferred.
  • Experience coaching Track & Field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must physically lead and demonstrate skills/activities.
  • May require pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, positioning and moving heavy equipment.
  • Must possess strength and stamina for strenuous physical activity.
