Overview
The Senior Transportation Planner (STP) position is responsible for the development of multi-year planning processes for plans and policies affecting the uses of the transportation system, transport operations, land use, travel corridors, transit demands, multi-modal systems planning, environmental regulatory requirements, other transportation programs, and mobility and safety of overall transport operations. The Senior Transportation Planner will analyze problems, issues, proposals, and development alternatives, options or plans in coordination of the multi-year Capital Improvement Plan, local and regional project plans, safety plans and corridor specific plans.
This position oversees transportation planning for a highly complex transportation system, including urban and regional land use planning.
The salary range for this position is $84,000.00- $ per hour with a hiring range of $84,000.00 - $98,700.00
, depending on qualifications and experience.

Your expertise will be critical in coordinating and overseeing complex, multi-faceted planning efforts across both local and regional partners.

Support the Division to ensure overall planning and capital project planning processes utilize consistent asset management techniques, projected network usage (roads, trails, transit, etc.), transportation visioning, all supported by data analysis.
Ensure all CIP projects are scoped, developed, and implemented consistently with short- and long-range transportation plans and develop metrics to measure plan implementation success.
Responsible to continually develop regional partnerships and improve regional mobility and safety.
Utilize transportation and land use plans to collaborate in the development of multi-year planning processes and improvement programs across city departments. Prioritize innovative opportunities to modernize daily operations through automation and infrastructure betterment.
Apply sound transportation planning principles balanced with the consideration of social, economic, environmental, financial and other relevant factors in developing recommendations for planning and improvement actions.
Implement and oversee effective project management and planning processes as well as coordinate activities with staff and stakeholders.
Communicate, engage and respond to questions and inquiries including those from the public, contractors, and professionals.
Coordinate with the local, regional and state organizations and ensure plans create seamless connection across modes within the city and regionally.
Improve and optimize transport projects fostering mobility, economic growth, inclusive opportunity, sustainability, equity and quality.
Manage the implementation of updates to the transportation master plan, sub area plans and corridor plans.
Responsible for managing transportation planning projects to enhance the city s overall transportation system. Assist in implementing a broad range of transportation planning and mobility projects and programs.
Participate in transportation development review. Ensure development coincides with transportation master plan and corridor visions.
Act as a liaison with the Thompson School District for Safe Route to School project planning, coordination, and management.
Participate in Public Works integration of comprehensive plans and other applicable strategic and master plans into transportation and mobility planning and related project efforts.
Participate in the development and ongoing implementation of the Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan and maintenance of the Safety Action Plan.
Assist in grant applications. Help secure funding to achieve citywide transportation goals
Prepare reports and findings present and makes recommendations to Commissions, Boards, and City Council.
Project manage complex and sensitive transportation and mobility planning projects. Apply current transportation planning theory and best practices across all modes of transportation.
Develop transportation planning policies and amend land use codes.
Assist in developing and maintaining micro-mobility policy and regulations
Coordinate with stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for collaboration, strengthen integration of regional multi-modality and transportation systems, identify and secure alternative funding sources and successfully complete associated…
