Position Summary
Under the direction of the CEO/Administrator (CEO) of Nor-Lea Hospital District, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of Nor-Lea Hospital District (NLHD). Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care rural setting with multicultural, multilingual patient population.
Position GoalProvide patient care with utmost customer service, compassion, and integrity to patients/clients in a clinic setting.
Responsibilities- Examines, diagnoses and treats patients of all ages.
- Acts as primary consultant on all cases referred by other staff providers of NLHD.
- From time to time, provides in-service training of staff in selected topics in Internal and adult medicine as deemed necessary by the CEO.
- Completes medical charts after each visit.
- Assists in internal quality control audits.
- Provides quality medical care according to standards established by the NLHD quality assurance program.
- Provide supervision in case assignment to physician assistant or nurse practitioner, including sign off on charts.
- Supervises medical assistants and lab personnel in area of specific support services for patient care delivery.
- Attends internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences, and participates on task performance excellence committees, as necessary and/or required by NLHD.
- Performs all duties and services in full compliance with NLHD’s policies and protocols.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
- Abides by all NLHD Standards of Behavior at all times.
- Sets an example as a medical professional by observing work start and stop times, giving adequate notice for absences, and follows all NLHD operational and personnel policies and procedures.
- Able to communicate and relate well with providers and clinical staff.
- Maintains appropriate licensure and certification including meeting and/or exceeding CME requirements.
- Observes standards of medical care.
- Efficient, organized and accurate.
- A high degree of organization and accuracy.
- Perform complex and comprehensive medical care on a variety of patients.
- Must have strong listening, written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly.
- Must have the ability to understand and respond effectively and with sensitivity to all age spectrums.
- Train and evaluate assigned staff.
- Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and efficient manner.
- Ability to work with diverse staff as needed.
- Demonstrate a special interest in the area of rural medicine.
- M.D. or D.O.
- Current full unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Mexico.
- Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty.
- Must be registered and have current DEA, and other certification to legally operate as a practitioner in the State of New Mexico.
- Must possess current CPR course completion card level
C. - Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine commensurate with his/her training. Board eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Practice is required; board certification is desirable.
- Ability to speak enough Spanish to examine Spanish-speaking patients and converse on basic level strongly preferred.
- Carrying:
Transporting an object, usually by hand, arm or shoulder. - Lifting:
Raising or lowering an object 25-50 pounds. - Repetitive Motions:
Making frequent movements with a part of the body. - Requires working under stressful conditions or working under irregular hours.
- Exposure:
To communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to the clinical environment. - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in a moderate noise level in the work environment is required.
