Estimator

The Estimator is responsible for preparing and submitting quotes on the project(s) assigned to achieve safe, quality, and profitable projects completed in a timely manner. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

• Promotes Cantera’s culture of “Safety First”
• Communicates with Safety Professionals to ensure a safe workplace
• Proactively identifies and halts unsafe work practices, and promptly reports them to management to ensure a safe work environment

• Identifies and quantifies construction elements
• Participate in the job turnover processes with other members of the Cantera leadership team
• Develops client relationships for current and future jobs
• Monitor costs, including labor and time
• Participates in bid reviews with other estimators as necessary
• Assess risk possibilities associated with projects
• Prepare proposals and acquire bid bonds
• Prepare job cost budget
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and estimates in a timely manner
• Assist Project Managers with pricing of change orders
• Other duties as assigned

• Broad understanding of the concrete construction industry
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, both internally and externally
• Functions effectively as part of a team
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Able to engage in a variety of tasks, and consistently meet deadlines
• Able to perform duties independently
• Strong mathematical skills
• Strong attention to detail

Work Experience

• Four (4) years of Construction Experience with no formal education required
• Two (2) years Concrete Experience

Certifications

• OSHA 10 Certified
• CPR Certified
• First Aid Certified

Conditions and hours

• Requires overtime hours
• Must be comfortable with travel on an as needed basis
