Process Engineer

Job Purpose:

In this critical role, you will be responsible for backend processes within MACOM's internal semiconductor fab, including the development of new fab processes and sustaining existing processes. The product portfolio includes GaN, GaAs, Si, and InP based technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, improve, and sustain processes in close partnership with Device and Integration Engineering and Business Unit design teams.
  • This hands-on role requires a broad understanding of equipment and processes, including setup, qualification, optimization, and troubleshooting of automated equipment for Die Sort, Dicing, Scribe and Break, Tape & Reel, and Inspection.
  • Characterize processes throughout development cycles, and drive improvements in quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability, productivity, and safety.
  • Support daily equipment setup, programming, process parameter optimization, engineering lot runs, troubleshooting, and assisting production with non-conforming material issues.
  • Take ownership of processes, including equipment selection, qualification, documentation, and operator training. Update and create process routes as needed.
  • Ideal candidates should have a general knowledge of electronics manufacturing, with strong interest and aptitude in working with automated and manual assembly equipment and good communication skills.

    • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing.
    • U.S. persons only due to ITAR regulations.
    Previous Relevant

    Work Experience:
    • At least 2 years of semiconductor-specific experience.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
    • Familiarity with materials systems for compound semiconductors and understanding of device physics and IC processing.
    • Experience with compound semiconductor processing or similar.
    • Experience with data mining, statistics, SPC, DOE, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving is preferred.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR restrictions.
