Job Details- Title: Operating Room Materials Specialist (inventory & stocking in hospital setting)
- Type: Full‑time, direct hire (FTE)
- Location: Lowell, MA (100% onsite)
- Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 5:30 AM–2:00 PM or 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (with 30‑min break)
- Pay Range: $42,000 – $48,000 annual salary + benefits
The Operating Room Materials Technician is responsible for the daily management and planning of supplies used in the operating room. This includes tracking, stocking, de‑boxing, transporting, and managing inventory to support patient care. This is a physical role requiring lifting and moving supply boxes during the first part of each day.
Qualifications (Required & Preferred)- High School diploma or GED required.
- Ability to lift 20‑30 lbs consistently (especially in the first 1–2 hours of each shift).
- 5+ years experience in a warehouse, stocking supplies, inventory setting, or hospital setting, with 1+ years tenure in recent roles
. - Previous experience in a hospital or medical setting stocking supplies/inventory preferred.
- Basic computer skills required for inventory tracking (People Soft + basic email; no Excel).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication.
Materials Management − 70%
- Create and manage pars within the OR.
- Perform inventory counts with handheld devices.
- Physically receive goods, validate shipments, rotate stock (FIFO).
- Coordinate deliveries and vendor‑managed supplies (e.g., linens).
- Manage backorders, outstanding receipts, RTVs, and approvals in procurement system.
- Enter capital equipment into asset tracking system.
Budget − 20%
- Support budgeting by researching products and tracking spend.
- Monitor inventory levels relative to budget allocation.
- Flag overages/shortfalls with operations.
Communication − 10%
- Review and act on product recall alerts.
- Notify departments of relevant recalls or substitutions.
- Communicate supply backorders as needed.
