OverviewThis role is generally responsible for providing clinical support in an outpatient vascular medical office. The Medical Assistant will collaborate with clinical leadership to provide the best care to vascular patients.
This role will report to the Office Manager for operational matters and to clinical leadership for clinical matters.
Responsibilities- Assist as needed with patient care, including:
- Provide compassionate patient support and care during office visits
- Set up room for patient procedures and ensure sterile environment
- Follow accreditation guidelines and document as needed
- Record patients’ vital signs and maintain provider’s notes
- Ensure patient medical records are comprehensive and complete
- Assist provider during office visits and procedures
- Assist with daily operations of the clinic and office‑based lab, including:
- Scheduling patient appointments and confirming future appointments
- Maintaining patient medical information, including medical history and health insurance
- Maintaining orders and stocking supplies
- Managing office telephone, answering calls and providing 24‑hour callbacks to patients as needed
- Cleaning and sterilizing equipment
- Proper disposal of medical waste in accordance with facility guidelines
- Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians and other clinical staff as needed
- Provide coverage until practice is closed for the day or last patient has left if after closing hours
- Maintain HIPAA guidelines
- Complete ad hoc projects as requested
- Completion of Medical Assistant Program and certification as a Medical Assistant
- BLS certification
- Proficiency in administrative tasks
- 1+ year experience in a medical setting, ideally surgical
- Willing to be available for local and/or regional assignments as needed
- Basic understanding of clinical tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional attention to detail
