Mother Infant Nursing Assistant-Per Diem

As a member of the Patient Care Team, you will ensure that patients and family members are attended to in a caring and attentive manner, responding to the needs of patients/family members in a timely manner and maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.

Job Profile Summary This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The position includes basic care services to patients, without requiring an RN or LPN license. The nurse assistant works under the direction of physicians or registered nurses, providing care under moderate supervision and may interpret or deviate from standard procedures when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One (1) year experience in health care or nursing services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years experience in health care or nursing services.
  • Successful completion of courses in EKG and Phlebotomy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with examinations, procedures, tests, and treatments, including use of glucometer, hoyer lift, obtaining vital signs, urinalysis, blood glucose, microalbumin, and A1C. Takes vital signs and weights.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), prepare patients for meals, assist with meals or feeds, respond to call lights, and assist with ambulation and/or transfers.
  • Provide complete hygienic care, including distributing linens, making beds, changing linens, changing briefs, bedpans, urinals, and catheters. Administers cleansing enemas.
  • Apply principles of prevention to maintain skin integrity and skeletal muscular alignment. Change simple dry sterile dressings.
  • Assist self‑care ostomy patients with pouching and preventative skin care.
  • Prepare and administer hot and cold applications, including sitz bath, soaks, and packs.
  • Apply supportive appliances, e.g., slings, ace bandages, elastic stockings, and binders, when appropriate.
  • Obtain, document, and reconcile allergy and medication lists.
  • Collect and prepare specimens and relevant documentation for transportation to off‑site laboratory, assuring accuracy in labeling and documentation. Update and reconcile all lab results in EMR.
