Brief DescriptionUnder general supervision, this role provides nursing and health‑care services to individuals and families in an outpatient primary‑care environment with assignments in adult medicine.
The PositionResponsible for the management, provision, and evaluation of nursing care in the assigned center area. Assists with telephone and face‑to‑face patient communications, physical exams, lab testing, and patient education. Works as part of the nursing team to ensure continuity of medical/health care for patients.
Essential Duties- Assist with provision of care, including treatment, teaching, and counseling.
- Recognize and interpret patients’ symptoms and report to the appropriate health‑care provider.
- Provide direct nursing services: nursing assessment, intervention/referral, health‑care education.
- Conduct health assessments: vital signs, vision/hearing screenings, specimen collection, and laboratory/radiology reconciliation.
- Administer immunizations and injections.
- Maintain clinical logs and develop systems for summarizing data for evaluation, planning, and quality assurance.
- Assist in planning and implementing educational programs for patients and families.
- Participate in in‑service education, quality assurance, and risk‑management programs.
- 1+ year of experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting, preferably in pediatrics and/or adult nursing.
- Current CPR/BLS Certification.
- Registered Nursing License in Massachusetts (required).
Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual skills in English and Khmer, Spanish, Portuguese, Kiswahili, Pashto are desired.
Physical RequirementsFrequent standing and walking up to 80% of the shift, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 30 pounds. Ability to see and distinguish color and perform CPR chest compressions.
Non‑Essential Functions- Perform other duties as assigned, including work of equal or higher skill and responsibility as directed.
Frequent contact with patients, families, visitors, nurses, and other department staff. May be required to change work areas to cover another priority area. Potential exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases; universal precautions and protective wear are available and encouraged.
