Markley Properties is looking to add a highly skilled team member to our Lowell Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for performing all aspects of painting, carpentry, and manual labor throughout the facility. This position plays a major role in maintaining a pleasant environment for tenants, visitors, and staff.
Roles and Responsibilities- Maintain a facility-wide repainting program to keep the appearance well-kept.
- Provide finishing requirements and perform repairs to walls and surfaces as directed by renovation, maintenance, or construction projects.
- Perform masonry activities including CMU/substrate repairs, retaining wall repairs, and placing new concrete and CMU as needed.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of stock and painting equipment to ensure minimal delay when working from authorized work orders.
- Store all flammable products inside the flammable storage cabinet provided in the paint shop and keep the paint shop clean and organized, free of accumulated trash and combustible debris.
- Follow all product use instructions and warnings, ensuring that all purchased and stocked products have an MSDS on file.
- Complete all assigned tasks with an emphasis on tenant, visitor, and staff safety, eliminating trip hazards and using “wet paint” signs as required.
- Work with a wide range of people, including team members, laborers, subcontractors, and other departments.
- Repair and adjust inoperable doors and hardware.
- Replace/repair damaged or missing ceiling tiles, cove base, carpet, hang boards, pictures, signs, and other wall-fastened items, as well as perform minor furniture repairs.
- Perform general carpentry functions and maintain a professional, safe, and clean environment, participating in projects as needed.
- Perform work offsite as required.
- Work nights, weekends, holidays, and during snow/rainstorms when needed.
- Support a wide variety of manual labor activities for the team.
- Work in Boston and Brookline when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to operate MEWPs (scissor lifts, boom lifts).
- Experience with snow removal.
- Ability to perform manual labor.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- 3-5 years of commercial painting experience.
- 3-5 years of carpentry experience.
- Familiarity working with Greco and Titan spray guns.
- Familiarity working with Von Duprin and Corbin Russwin door hardware.
- General carpentry skills.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
