Quality Engineer Job Lower Sackville area,Nova Scotia Canada,Engineering

Responsibilities

Design, monitor, troubleshoot and optimize concrete mixes for all Atlantic ready-mix plants including specialty mixes

Evaluate current and potential material suppliers for product performance and compliance with standards

Review technical specifications for pre-bid scope review

Prepare submittal packages and ensure compliance with job specifications

Coordinate with customers and government bodies for technological advances, alternative methods and continuous improvement models for the department

Travel throughout the Maritimes to provide supervision, support and training to internal and external customers

Manage and continuously improve the overall Quality Program for all plants according to CSA and Industry Standards

Planning and coordinating field / plant and laboratory testing of construction materials including those produced at our Sand & Gravel operations

Develop repair procedures for defective product which permanently restores appearance, durability and structural capacity

Modify or implement procedures which maintain high product quality

Additional duties as assigned

Technical Requirements

Bachelor of Engineering degree with a focus in civil, or a similar discipline

Academic or industry exposure to concrete mix design / materials engineering

Professional Engineering designation or an Engineer in Training with eligibility

Supervisory experience in the concrete industry would be considered an asset

Knowledge of CSA, ASTM and relevant provincial transportation standards and specifications

Obtain and maintain relevant concrete testing certifications (ACI, CSA, as needed based on project/business requirements

Desire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and customer-focused environment

Willingness to travel between plants as well as to project construction sites as required

Must be adaptable to overtime where required to meet project / production deadlines
