Allied Universal is seeking a dedicated and reliable Security Guard – Shelter to join our team. Prior experience working in a shelter is an asset. This role is crucial to ensuring the safety and well‑being of our residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong presence, the ability to handle stressful situations, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a secure environment.

• Monitor facility access: control entry to the shelter, verify identification, and maintain logs.
• Conflict resolution: address and de‑escalate disputes between residents, guests, or staff, while maintaining order.
• Emergency response: respond promptly to medical, fire, security, or other emergencies and assist with evacuations if needed.
• Safety & security patrols: conduct regular patrols of the building and surrounding areas to prevent theft, vandalism, or other criminal activity. Secure doors and windows after hours.
• Incident reporting: document incidents, violations, or disturbances; complete incident reports in a clear and timely manner; communicate effectively with supervisors.
• Maintain presence: provide a visible and authoritative presence within the shelter to deter negative behaviors.
• Collaboration with shelter staff: work closely with shelter management and staff to implement security protocols and provide support for residents in need of additional assistance.

• 1–2 years of experience in security, preferably at a shelter location.
• Valid Provincial Security License.
• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent (or GED).
• Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
