Position: Apprentice Wind Turbine Service Technician (Offshore)

Overview

A Snapshot of Your Day As an Offshore Wind Turbine Service Technician Apprentice, you will pursue a level 3 qualification (equivalent to NVQ). The course is titled:
Maintenance Operations & Engineering Technician. You will receive training in all facets of the wind turbine service technician role, including industry standard safety training and safe ways of working.

We are recruiting these roles in the following locations:
Harwich, Lowestoft, and aTravelling Technician Pool (UK Wide). During the first year of your apprenticeship, your primary base will be at our partner training provider in Scunthorpe where you will undertake General Electrical / Mechanical training in both practical and theory-based sessions. In years 2 & 3, your learning will primarily be hands-on experience working with one of our service teams on site, either at the site you are recruited to or, if you are in the travelling technician pool, at one of our UK sites.

You’ll Make An Impact
  • As a service technician, you will be responsible for executing ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and troubleshooting inside the wind turbines.
  • The main tasks include pre-defined technical tasks such as integration of components to a system, basic engineering, maintenance jobs, and supporting customers remotely and onsite.
  • You will coordinate and accomplish defined service operations and/or resolve product issues for customers’ equipment.
  • You will troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
  • You will complete critical safety and quality documentation and work within our safety procedures.
What You Bring
  • x3 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above including Mathematics, English Language and Science.
  • You must live within a 45-minute drive from either Harwich or Lowestoft for a site-based role.
  • If applying to the travelling technician pool, you can reside anywhere within the UK but must be available to work away from home on a rotational basis.
  • You must hold a full UK driving license before an offer of employment can be issued.
  • You must be at least 18 years old by September 2026.
  • Be comfortable with and able to work at heights, and be happy to work shifts.
  • A strong enthusiasm and long-term commitment to the apprenticeship and the company.
  • Genuine interest in engineering, technology, and the environment with good basic manual skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
What Else Do I Need to Know?

If your application is successful, you will be offered an initial 42-month fixed term contract of employment subject to you successfully passing:

  • A practical Working at Heights assessment
  • A medical and fitness test
  • Evidence of valid right to work documentation, a driving license and relevant exam certifications.
