The School of Music in the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Music Education with an emphasis on Instrumental (Band) Pedagogy to begin September 1, 2026.

The School of Music is NASM accredited and offers the B.A. in Music, the B.M. in Music with concentrations in Music Education, Composition, Performance, and Theory, the Master of Music Education (M.M.E.), the M.M. in Music with concentrations in Composition, Conducting, Music Theory, Musicology, Piano Pedagogy, and Performance, the D.M.A. with tracks in Composition, Conducting, Performance, and Piano Pedagogy, the Ph.D. in Music Education, the Ph.D. in Fine Arts with concentrations in Arts Administration, Music Education, Musicology, and Music Theory, the Undergraduate Minor in Music, Undergraduate Certificates in Community Arts Entrepreneurship, Jazz Studies, and World Music, and Graduate Certificates in Early Music Performance Practice, Woodwind Specialty and Piano Pedagogy.

A faculty of 61 full-time professors serves approximately 335 undergraduate students and 175 students involved in graduate study. The University Library contains a wide array of music resources, including musical scores, recordings, videos, and instructional media.
