Project Field Engineer – Lemartec Corporation, a Mas Tec company.

Overview

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering information to the Project Manager, Craft Supervisors and Corporate Functional Managers to ensure design development and construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions applicable to one or more disciplines. The role also provides project controls support (cost, scheduling, estimating) and subcontract oversight to project construction supervision and craft personnel.

Location & Travel Details

Travel across the US may be required, up to 100% time. Projects may be located in NC, VA, GA, TX, FL, IA, WY, and generally last 6–8 months. Eligible employees receive a designated daily per diem, relocation assistance, vehicle allowance, and a one‑week per month home rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Understand technical drawings and specifications for the site civil scope of construction, interpret design/drawings for crafts installing material, prepare field design change requisitions and “as‑built” drawings as required.
  • Comprehend subcontract language, scope, terms and technical requirements.
  • Plan and develop construction work packages for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process plant systems.
  • Understand detailed project schedules, including required predecessors and successors to each activity.
  • Understand quality requirements and industry standards for various construction crafts and perform typical QA/QC duties as outlined in the Lemartec Field Engineering Handbook.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and speaking (including technical communications).
  • Manage and coordinate material and human resources.
  • Support the Construction Manager in analyzing and reporting the daily progress of subcontractors.
  • Support subcontractors in a manner that adheres to the construction schedule and contract terms.
  • Facilitate technical approvals by the engineers and expedite design development according to the engineering schedule and contract terms.
  • Coordinate craft production and release work in a timely manner to meet subcontract and project schedules.
  • Propose modifications to engineering design and interpret drawings, specifications and other technical documents for the subcontractors.
  • Provide support to the Project Controls Manager in standard Project Controls responsibilities (cost, scheduling, estimating/re‑estimating).
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as QA/QC reports, punch lists, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc.
  • Work to fulfill the requirements identified in the Lemartec Field Engineering Handbook.
  • Adhere to the Lemartec Employee Handbook, Human Resources Policies, Safety Manual and OSHA safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
  • Frequent physical tasks: lift objects up to 25 lb, climb stairs, sit for long periods, stoop, kneel or crouch, reach, grasp, manipulate objects, work on the site for extended durations. Personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, rain coat or poncho, and steel‑toed work boots are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in construction.
  • Prior experience with data center projects is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of design and engineering of large‑scale construction projects across all engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of construction activities including civil, material, equipment, cost and time requirements.
  • Technical engineering and computing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of codes applicable to infrastructure construction.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Document Control Systems).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team on all phases of an EPC project with minimal supervision.
