Job Description

The Engineering Technician works with the Engineering team to provide technical support to Operations, utilizes and maintains equipment needed for inventory control and mapping, conducts drone surveys, generates reports, and is a support role to the Geology and Environmental departments.

Summary

The Engineering Technician works with the Engineering team to provide technical support to Operations, utilizes and maintains equipment needed for inventory control and mapping, conducts drone surveys, generates reports, and is a support role to the Geology and Environmental departments.

Functional Responsibilities
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
  • Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
  • Conduct regular monthly and as needed drone flight services for calculating aggregate inventory and mapping land contours. Communicate findings to appropriate manager and collaborate with management to verify accuracy or explain variances.
  • Generate reports of information gathered from the drone and other research assignments.
  • Utilize GPS equipment for surveying and identifying land boundaries.
  • Assist in data processing, mapping, and modeling.
  • Collect, sort, and prepare rock samples for testing.
  • Assist with Environmental department tasks (sample collection, site visits, inspections).
  • Support Geology department with field sampling, sample analysis (QC) and drilling.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records of test data, quality control results, and files for the Engineering department.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other functions and duties as required.
Competencies
  • Possess background knowledge in drone operation, engineering or earth science.

  • Exhibit familiarity with proper lab safety procedures.
Experience / Training / Certifications
  • An Associate degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, Earth Sciences or similar preferred.
  • A High School diploma required.
  • FAA unmanned aircraft licensing is required to be obtained within 1-2 months of hire and maintained during entirety of employment with PB Materials.
  • 1-3 years of experience in aggregate or related industry a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to his/her assigned locations within the Permian Basin and spend a significant portion of time in a mining environment.
  • A valid driver’s license with no major violations that would exclude a person from driving for business as defined by our insurance carrier and company policy.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Candidate must be drug free.
  • Position requires moderately strenuous physical work.
  • Must be able to:
    • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds from floor to 3’ – 5’ occasionally.
    • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
    • Travel safely while walking over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement.
    • Use hands and fingers to operate computers and other office machinery.
    • Effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with internal and external personnel, clients, and vendors.
    • Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves.
    • Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery.
    • Occasionally work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions.
    • Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally.
  • Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.
