Construction Quality Assurance (CQA / QC) Supervisor

Stantec is seeking a safety‑focused leader with field experience (preferably in construction) to supervise construction quality assurance (CQA) at a mine reclamation project in northern New Mexico, commencing January 2026. The role is full‑time, onsite, with a minimum two‑year commitment and potential extension.

The supervisor will lead a team that verifies construction meets design specifications while working alongside the client and various contractors. The position demands strong leadership, daily interaction with a diverse team, and the ability to resolve design deviations and communicate solutions to the client and Stantec leadership.

The work environment is rugged, high‑altitude, and often includes steep slopes, high‑altitude terrain, and heavy equipment. Physical fitness, some driving, and the ability to work under mental and physical challenges are required.

Position Requirements
  • Arrive on site 5 days per week (sometimes
    6) and meet mental and physical demands.
  • Work daily with a large group of individuals with varied personalities and backgrounds.
  • Traverse steep slopes, sometimes multiple times per day.
  • Safely operate and work around heavy equipment.
  • Lead and attend daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
  • Maintain curiosity and creativity to contribute to a multi‑year reclamation project.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Detail‑oriented in verbal and written communication, data collection, and review.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously.
Specific Activities to Be Performed
  • Create and maintain a high‑functioning safety culture; track compliance with safety practices and adhere to company and client guidelines (OSHA HAZWOPER and supervisor training required).
  • Use and master field equipment including Trimble survey equipment, portable X‑ray fluorescence spectrometer, and electronic density gauge.
  • Contribute to design solutions, as‑built construction records, and other field engineering activities using AutoCAD Civil3D and Trimble Business Center.
  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and execute Stantec CQA field team activities and documentation, including field observations, sample collection, field testing (as required), and daily reports.
  • Review and respond to technical memoranda, RFIs, and as‑built reports related to project construction activities.
  • Supervise QA activities such as sample collection, gradation analyses, material density testing, and surveying.
  • Interact daily with client management, engineering, and field staff to plan and execute CQA activities.
  • Provide independent decision‑making in the field at remote sites.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. in engineering or geology, an associate’s degree with strong surveying skills, a professional surveying license, or comparable relevant experience.
  • 4‑6 years of field work on civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects; preference for mine remediation/reclamation and survey experience.
  • Exceptional technical writing, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional technical leadership abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Transparency: Pay ranges are provided for positions where required. Final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Part‑time compensation is pro‑rated based on hours worked.
