Project Geologist​/Hydrologist

Job Description

Terracon seeks a professional Geologist/Hydrogeologist responsible for evaluating and interpreting subsurface field and sampling data to develop environmental and geologic conclusions. The role includes generating subsurface maps and cross‑sections, collaborating with engineering and environmental scientist staff, overseeing field monitoring and testing of soils, interpreting soil and groundwater data, and preparing written plans and reports related to site investigations, assessments, and remediation activities.

Projects may include earthwork construction, foundation work, well design and sampling, Phase I/II site assessments, and seismic risk assessments.

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects; participate in pre‑task planning and report any safety issues to management.
• Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects; monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
• Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
• Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting or coordinating detailed phases of work for part or total of a moderate scope and complexity project.
• May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
• May serve as a team leader on medium projects and mentor junior level Geologists.
• Perform scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.
• May attend on and off‑site client meetings.
• Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
• Develop written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
• Evaluate complex laboratory and field data and assemble in written reports.
• Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
• Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field and a minimum of 7 years’ related experience.
• Master’s degree preferred or PhD preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Certification in field of expertise
