What You Will Do
  • Provide therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care to inpatients and outpatients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Administer therapeutic medical gases, aerosol therapy, prescribed pharmacological medications, and evaluate and report the effectiveness to physicians and other health‑care workers.
  • Assist with procedures for long and short‑term continuous ventilation, airway management, pulmonary postural drainage or chest physiotherapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic testing:
    Pulmonary Function testing, bronchoscopies, EKG, ABG, exercise and nocturnal oximetry studies.
  • Perform patient oronasal and/or tracheal suctioning.
  • Keep accurate records of patient therapy and departmental records as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients on your unit, assess data reflecting patient status, and interpret information to identify patient needs per unit policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competencies initially and annually.
What Qualifications You Will Need
  • Registered or licensed by the State of Texas in Respiratory Care; registration by NBRC or registry eligibility required.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • Three to five years combined clinical experience.
