- 7+ years in product analytics or data science, where they owned metrics for a product and didn't just run reports for others.
- Has set up tracking from scratch. They decided which user actions get recorded, not just queried tables someone else built. This is a big differentiator.
- Has defined success metrics for a new product and got leaders to agree on them.
- Understands experiments (A/B testing). They know how to test whether a change truly caused an improvement.
- SQL (strong) and Python (working level).
- Bonus if they've used Snowflake and dbt, which are common data tools.
- Comfortable with messy data. They work around imperfect data instead of complaining or rebuilding everything.
- Can talk to anyone, from an engineer to the CTO, and adjust how much detail they give.
- Has measured AI, chatbot, voice-bot or LLM features.
- B2B SaaS, CRM or product-led growth companies.
- Has used Statsig, Optimizely, Eppo or a similar experimentation tool.
