DutiesSpecial agents carry out investigations and protection assignments, often at multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing protection for various protectees.
- Conducting criminal investigations related to U.S. financial obligations.
- Planning and implementing security for National Special Security Events.

Requirements- U.S. citizenship
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency is mandatory.
- Age between 21 and 37 at application; exceptions apply for prior federal law enforcement service or veteran's preference.
- Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
- Visual acuity of 20/100 uncorrected; corrected 20/20 or better.
- Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in key frequencies.
- Pass drug testing before appointment and randomly thereafter.
- Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
- Willingness to accept assignments nationwide and overseas.
- Register with the Selective Service System or be exempt.
