Position Title

Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lubbock, Texas.

Schedule: Monday‑Friday.

Hours: First Shift 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Hourly Pay: $24.00 per hour.

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700.

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Vocational or Technical Certification/Post‑secondary degree (preferred).
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
  • At least two years of classroom training and work experience (preferred).
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT Physical, Road Test, Background and Motor‑vehicle check.
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers.
  • Identify root cause of failures and perform required repairs.
  • Replace defective components as instructed.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties.
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Perform other support duties as required, including Service Island support.
