Job Purpose
The IBDP History Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction in accordance with the philosophy and requirements of the  International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) . The teacher fosters critical thinking, historical inquiry, research skills, and international-mindedness while supporting students in achieving academic excellence and developing as lifelong learners.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IBDP History curriculum.
Teach Higher Level (HL) and/or Standard Level (SL) History courses as assigned.
Develop students' understanding of historical concepts, perspectives, causes, consequences, continuity, and change.
Encourage critical analysis of historical sources and interpretation of historical events.
Integrate global perspectives and promote international-mindedness in classroom practices.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
Assessment and Evaluation
Design and implement formative and summative assessments in accordance with IB assessment criteria.
Prepare students for Internal Assessments (IA) and external IB examinations.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progress.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance.
Analyze assessment data to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Research and Extended Essay Support
Guide students in historical research methodologies and academic writing.
Support students undertaking History-related Extended Essays (EE) when assigned.
Promote academic integrity and proper citation practices.
Curriculum Development
Participate in curriculum planning, review, and development aligned with IB standards and practices.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment.
Stay informed about updates to the IB History syllabus and assessment requirements.
Student Support and Pastoral Care
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Monitor student well-being, academic progress, and engagement.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school leadership regarding student development.
Serve as a homeroom tutor/advisor if required.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development programs, and IB training workshops.
Contribute to school events, extracurricular activities, and community initiatives.
Uphold the school's mission, values, and the IB Learner Profile.
Engage in continuous professional growth and reflective practice.

Qualifications and Experience
Master's degree in History, International Relations, Political Science, or a related discipline. Bachelor's degree in History or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in secondary education.
Experience teaching History at the IBDP level.
Strong understanding of IB philosophy, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
