Data Scientist
The Hampden County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our Research team. This is an exciting opportunity for a statistics-savvy professional who is passionate about producing reliable, valid, and accessible data to support excellence in correctional practices. As a Research Technician, you'll work in a team-oriented environment to help shape the way data inform policy, operations, and innovation across our agency.
You’ll work directly with the Research Director to organize, streamline, and visualize the wide array of data collected from departments across the Sheriff's Office. Your work will help ensure that stakeholders, from correctional staff to community partners, have access to data that is accurate, digestible, and meaningful.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the Research Director in integrating and analyzing data from multiple departments to build cohesive, actionable insights.
- Collect and compile data for operational reporting, entering variables into statistical databases.
- Performs periodic auditing to assess the accuracy of the data, correct errors, and clean variables.
- Assists in the development of reports, data briefs, infographics, dashboards, and presentations that convey complex findings in an engaging, understandable way.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to improve data collection and support outcome reporting.
- Works with the IS&T department to update and expand electronic access to data.
- Assists in the gathering of data for grant submissions
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Research Director.
