Fleet Office Coordinator I, II, III - Fleet Operations Division (Job )
Position InformationTxDOT has an exciting opportunity for an Office Coordinator I, II, or III with our Fleet Operations Division Shop in Lufkin, Texas. This critical position will work in a fast‑paced equipment repair facility environment. The ideal candidate will have previous automotive, diesel, or equipment repair shop experience. Purchasing experience is a definite plus, although not required.
Salary and GradeOffice Coordinator I – Grade A15: $32,976.00 – $52,045.00
Office Coordinator II – Grade A17: $36,976.00 – $58,399.00
Office Coordinator III – Grade A19: $42,244.00 – $68,960.00

- Answer the telephone, evaluate requests, and route messages.
- Provide technical assistance to others in using computers and software applications.
- Assist in oversight of pool management, fuel cards, and key valet processes.
- Process surplus equipment and order minor equipment for the district.
- Maintain material inventory.
- Establish priorities and make assignments.
- Handle a wide variety of situations independently.
- Monitor and maintain suspense logs, records, and various files.
- Operate a variety of office machines.
- Provide administrative support and maintain a close relationship with supervisors and staff.
- Receive, sort, open, evaluate, and distribute mail.
- Review, prepare, and negotiate applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools, or equipment; monitor service agreements.
- Process receipts and invoices for payment.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings and appointments; make travel arrangements and complete travel expense vouchers, reports, and account reconciliation.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Compose and prepare correspondence and special or recurring reports requiring technical understanding and confidential communication.
- Monitor equipment mileage and service records; train other clerical or technical staff.
- Coordinate and track progress of projects or specialized programs and inform supervisors or department officials of status.
- Assist other offices remotely in the absence of other fleet office coordinators.
High school graduate or equivalent in general education.
ExperienceOffice Coordinator I – 1 year in clerical, administrative support, or related experience.
Office Coordinator II – 3 years in clerical, administrative support, or related experience.
Office Coordinator III – 5 years in clerical, administrative or related experience.
Experience may be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent. College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.
Licenses and CertificationsValid driver’s license. Position requires driving a state vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous automotive, diesel or equipment repair shop experience.
