Cardiology - Interventional Physician

Woodland Heights Medical Center, a Community Health Systems facility in Lufkin, Texas, is seeking Interventional Cardiologist(s) to provide ongoing locum call coverage. The hospital is a Level IV Trauma Center and Stroke Certified, offering a collaborative environment with a strong inpatient team and full subspecialty support.

Start Date: November 27, 2025
Duration: Ongoing Flexible scheduling available
Setting: Inpatient Call-Only Coverage

Assignment Highlights:

• Coverage Type: Inpatient/ STEMI Call (1:3 rotation)

• Average Call Volume (per 24 hrs): 8 phone consults, 5 patients seen, 2 admissions

• Call Response Time: 30 minutes

• Rounding: Inpatient and ICU (no outpatient clinic)

• Patients per Shift: 8

• Beds in Cardiology Department: 24

• Temporary Privileges: Available (est. 5 days for credentialing)

• Support Staff: No supervision of APPs required

• EMR: Medhost

Requirements:

• Board Certified or truly Board Eligible in Interventional Cardiology

• Active Texas License or IMLC Eligibility

• Clean background and active DEA

• Must be able to respond within 30 minutes for calls

Travel & Lodging:

• Nearest airports: George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Hobby (HOU)

Additional Details:

• Coverage needed due to call schedule expansion

• Holiday coverage includes:
  New Year s Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
