Join Our Healthcare Team as a Locum-Gastroenterologist in Lufkin, TX

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform standard GI procedures such as colonoscopies and endoscopies.
• Conduct inpatient rounds, assessments, and consults related to gastrointestinal conditions.
• Manage cases involving abdominal pain, GI bleeding, SBO, food bolus, ulcers, gastritis, and diagnostic evaluations for carcinoma.
• Collaborate with trained GI nursing staff and anesthesia backup to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Adhere to facility protocols, including patient admissions and procedural documentation.

Required Skills:

• Valid medical license and board certification in Gastroenterology.
• ERCP capabilities are essential.
• Proficiency in performing endoscopy, colonoscopy, and related GI procedures.
• Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an inpatient setting with a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to Have

Skills:

• Experience with EMR systems, particularly Paragon and Epic.
• Prior experience in hospital-based, inpatient GI care.
• Comfort with handling a varied caseload with up to 10 patients daily.
• Flexible availability for 24-hour inpatient shifts.

Preferred

Education and Experience:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital-based GI practice.
• Successful completion of residency and fellowship programs in gastroenterology.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to work 24-hour shifts; schedule flexibility is required.
• Must be able to obtain temporary or full credentialing within 30-60 days.
• Must have malpractice insurance that covers inpatient procedures; ensure no history of excessive malpractice claims or disciplinary actions.
• Preference for providers with conscious sedation experience; anesthesia support is available.
• No outpatient work; focus solely on inpatient consults and procedures.
