Parent Educator – BCFS Health & Human Services

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

Experience: At least 5 years in a related field. Preferred:
Bilingual – Spanish.

The Home Visitor/Parent Educator uses professional judgment to ensure quality services to families while maintaining program compliance.

• Outreach and recruitment for the Texas Home Visiting Program.
• Establish and maintain trusting relationships with families through regular contact.
• Utilize the Safecare curriculum with caregivers and report required recordings.
• Administer intake, assessments, and screening tools to clients and family members.
• Use intake and assessment results to establish and implement goals, objectives, and activities with parents.
• Provide intensive case management services to families.
• Offer parent & health, case management, resources, referrals, basic needs support, transportation assistance, and other support services to families on caseload.
• Conduct systematic follow-ups for all families.
• Create and set up required events on monthly calendar.
• Record all group and individualized services and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into PEIRS, Salesforce, and (BCFS) software.
• Meet with supervisor bi-weekly to evaluate status of families on caseload.
• Meet all deliverables as outlined in the grant.
• Attend all required trainings.

• Maintain a caseload and provide services for 12 cases per month.
• Meet with clients at least twice a month.
• Update documentation in Salesforce within 48 hours.
• Update documentation in PEIRS within 48 hours.
• Update documentation in Safe Care within 24 hours.
• Provide community education on child abuse prevention strategies monthly.
• Collaborate with Family Resource Center staff on a monthly basis.

• Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position (First Aid, CPR, Safe Care curriculum administration certification).
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug screens, and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
• Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
• Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check.
• Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain computer literacy required to meet responsibilities.
• Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Travel as needed.
• Manage time effectively and efficiently.
