Position: Plant Operator III

Department: Wastewater Treatment Plant

Reports To: Lead Plant Operator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay: $18.29 per hour

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator III role involves monitoring, regulating, and adjusting equipment to ensure the efficient and safe treatment of wastewater before discharge. The operator will work within established guidelines to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ensure the proper functioning of all treatment processes.

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License (Class
  
  C) at time of placement.
• Class B Wastewater Operator License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) at the time of hire.

• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulations.
• Skills in precisely conducting inspections, recording data, and maintaining accurate logs and reports regarding plant operations.
• Skills in using computer systems and software for data analysis and reporting.
• Skills both in written and verbal communication, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability and capacity to assess challenges, analyze options, and implement solutions to enhance plant efficiency and performance.
• Ability to be available for flexible schedules and a prompt response to emergency situations.

• This is an intermediate-level position. The employee performs a range of wastewater treatment activities in a developing capacity under the direction of a certified wastewater treatment operator.
• Operate and maintain equipment and systems for the treatment of wastewater within the city's facilities.
• Monitor and adjust treatment processes to ensure efficient and effective operation.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and treatment systems.
• Analyze data from various instruments and perform laboratory tests to assess water quality.
• Implement corrective measures and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions as needed.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and logs related to plant operations and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with team members and management to improve plant efficiency and effectiveness.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
