Job Summary:
The Telemetry/Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role involves monitoring patients with acute conditions, administering medications, collaborating with the healthcare team, and utilizing telemetry technology to assess cardiac rhythms. The RN ensures patient safety, promotes recovery, and supports both patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in the Telemetry/Med‑Surg unit.
Monitor and interpret telemetry (cardiac) readings, recognizing abnormal rhythms and responding appropriately.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders.
Provide post-surgical and acute care management, including wound care, pain management, and infection prevention.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Assist with diagnostic tests, procedures, and interventions as needed.
Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care.
Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
Serve as a patient advocate by addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and dignity.
Safety & Compliance:Follow hospital policies, protocols, and infection control procedures.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality, and ethical nursing practices.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Education & Licensure:Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ASN or BSN) required.
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required.
Qualifications & Requirements:Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a recent hospital setting required.
Previous experience in Telemetry, Medical‑Surgical, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) strongly desired.
Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to recognize and respond to cardiac arrhythmias and emergency situations.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
WorkConditions:
Fast-paced hospital environment requiring 12‑hour shifts (days/nights/weekends/holidays) as needed.
Ability to stand, walk, and lift patients or equipment (up to 50 lbs.) during shifts.
Exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, and hazardous materials (PPE provided).
