Position Summary:
Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as a Service Technician III focused on Life Safety Services in the Vallen Safety Services Group. In this position, you will install and/or inspect, test, and maintain (ITM) life safety systems and equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.
- Provide quality of service to our customers. Assist assigned HTS technicians with proper training in Vallen standard operating procedures.
- Provide customer service in the area of installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems, including but not limited to:
Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems and Water Based Systems. - May have job coordination responsibilities in the absence of a Technician Lead if assigned by the supervisor/manager for specific jobs or customers.
- May lead other technicians within area of expertise.
- Interact with customers to coordinate job activities and ensure documentation is filled out accurately for invoicing.
- Ensure all documentation associated with assigned tasks is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing; ensure copies provided to the customer upon servicing equipment.
- Be knowledgeable of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties (State, OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
- May be responsible for Parts & Equipment requests for specific assigned jobs and maintaining accurate inventories related to job and maintenance orders.
- Always exhibit safe work practices and assist with shipping/receiving, unloading trucks, and order processing as needed.
- May include use of company assets (vehicle, equipment, tools, devices) and maintain proper care as defined by Vallen policies.
- May have immediate supervision over a tech service unit.
- High School or GED
- Minimum 3 Certification (manufacturing/state) in a fire protection related field
- NICET II or greater
- Fire Alarm & Ext A 2-4 years' experience or WBS Construction 2-4 years' experience (Industry related)
- RME-I (if applicable)
- Mechanically inclined
- Advance communication, initiative, and problem-solving skills
- Specific -- RELEVENT experience
- Experience in the installation and/or maintenance, repair and service of Life Safety Systems and equipment is required
- Advance industry segment knowledge
- Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a Customer Account or Project
- Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen
- Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record
- Commercial Driver's License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials
- Proficient with hand tools
- Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner
- Able to provide assistance, advise and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel
- Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed
- Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required
- Must pass Drug & Alcohol screen, Physical exam, and background check

- Working conditions will vary with service work being performed indoors and out in the field
- Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment
- Ability to work in climatic weather (cold/heat) during day or night operations
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 55 lbs
- Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24' high
- Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes
- Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours
- Bending, climbing, and stooping as needed for access to equipment
- Pass all test requirements to be approved to work offshore (If Applicable)
