Senior team, pragmatic approach, international environment.
We are looking for a Power BI Lead with a strong background in Banking and Financial Services to join our Lugano office on a permanent basis. The candidate will serve as the technical and functional reference point for the design, development, and governance of Business Intelligence solutions, working in a multilingual, international environment in close collaboration with client business units, IT teams, and senior management.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development
- Design and develop advanced reports, dashboards, and data models in Power BI, including paginated reports via Power BI Report Builder
- Define and maintain the enterprise semantic model (star schema, tabular models) on Power BI / Analysis Services
- Write complex DAX and M queries for business transformations and KPI calculations
- Manage integrations with heterogeneous data sources: data warehouses, SQL Server, Azure, APIs, flat files
Governance & Architecture
- Define development guidelines, naming conventions, and best practices across the BI perimeter
- Oversee Power BI Service management (work spaces, shared datasets, gateways, row‑level security)
- Support implementation of solutions on Microsoft Fabric / Azure Synapse environments
- Ensure data quality and KPI traceability (data lineage, dataset certification)
Banking & Regulatory
- Translate regulatory requirements (DORA, BCBS 239, FINMA prudential reporting, AML/KYC monitoring) into structured reporting solutions
- Develop control dashboards covering: credit risk, liquidity, capital adequacy, commercial performance, and compliance
- Collaborate with Risk, Finance, and Compliance teams on data and model validation
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead a team of BI developers and analysts (mentoring, code review, task assignment)
- Engage with CIOs, CFOs, Chief Risk Officers, and business leads for requirements gathering and output presentation
- Manage delivery priorities across multiple parallel work streams in Agile environments
Technical
- 6+ years of experience in BI/Data Analytics, with at least 5 years focused on Power BI
- Advanced proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M)
- Solid experience with SQL (T‑SQL or PL/SQL), relational and dimensional data modeling
- Knowledge of Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks) and/or Microsoft Fabric
- Familiarity with versioning tools (Git) and Agile/Scrum methodologies
Functional – Banking
- Direct experience in banks, financial institutions, or consulting firms serving banking clients
- Strong understanding of sector‑specific processes and data: management accounting, ALM, regulatory reporting, credit portfolio, commercial KPIs
- Familiarity with the Swiss regulatory framework (FINMA, Banking Act, DORA) is a significant advantage
Languages
- Italian: fluent (required)
- English: fluent (required)
- French and/or German: a plus
Soft Skills
- Methodological rigor and strong data quality orientation
- Ability to communicate complex insights to non‑technical and senior stakeholders
- Autonomy, proactivity, and problem‑solving attitude in structured, regulated environments
- Microsoft PL‑300 (Power BI Data Analyst) and/or DP‑600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) certification
- Experience with data catalog or data quality tools (e.g. Microsoft Purview, Collibra)
- Knowledge of Python or R for advanced analytics integrable within Power BI
- Prior experience in Switzerland or with Swiss/Ticino financial market clients
- Permanent contract based in Lugano
